What are you doing for Him?
The context of the Bible passage shows us a story of tremendous sacrifice. Jesus was headed for Jerusalem where He would be condemned to die on the cross. But, while He was on His way, He stopped at the home of Simon the leper where a totally unexpected sacrifice took place. It's the kind of sacrifice that is supposed to mark the life of every believer. The woman with the alabaster jar expressed her devotion to the Lord in three areas.
Are We Willing
As David was coming to the close of his life he summoned the leaders of Israel, along with his son Solomon, to unite in the common purpose of building God's house. In order to make this possible, he encouraged them to serve the Lord with whole-hearted devotion and a willing mind. He was inspiring them to make an investment and do the work that was necessary to build God's house.
In a similar way, the Holy Spirit speaks to us and invites us to join with him in building God's house. He asks us to make an investment for the benefit of generations to come.
